Plans underway to revive lake transport in Kisumu, Raila says
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has on Friday announced plans to revive lake transport in Kisumu County.
The African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development said they had discussed plans on boosting lake transport and improving maritime activity on Lake Victoria.
He was speaking after meeting with Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and Kisumu County Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o among other stakeholders.
The ODM leader also said that the exercise is a partnership with the Ugandan government who had already brought water dredgers to Lake Victoria to assist in the removal of water hyacinth.
The project is expected to cover 62 kilometers and will take at least 30 months to complete.
