Leaders in Taita Taveta County are urging parents to give birth to more children so that they can fill up gaps in schools that have fewer pupils.

Voi Member of parliament Jones Mlolwa says that some schools, especially in Sagalla area in his constituency, have fewer children than expected.

Speaking in Voi during the Madaraka Day celebrations, Mlolwa claimed that men and women are failing to produce more children as they are spending more time in alcohol dens.

He says more schools are being built by CDF but most classes are empty due to lack of learners.

Governor John Mruttu said more investors from Europe will spend more than Ksh 110 million to build a banana factory in Taveta Sub County this year.

Mruttu said the county government is still pushing the national government to issue title deeds to land owners in the area.
