Poachers injured in fierce gunfight at Ol Pejeta

Two suspected poachers are on the run after a fierce gunfight erupted between them and Kenya Wildlife Service rangers at Ol Pejeta Ranch in Laikipia County last night.

An operation is being carried out by KWS officers with track dogs as they follow the poaching gang, with one man feared to have sustained serious injuries in the gun-battle.

A G3 rifle, 30 rounds of ammunition, 18 loaves of bread and gumboots were recovered from the scene of the 10pm incident.

KWS has appealed to members of the public to be vigilant and report any person seeking treatment from bullet wounds to the nearest police station for immediate action.
