Police Advertise Fresh Recruitment Exercise

The advert was posted in local dailies just a day after hundreds of last year’s recruits were turned away from training colleges following the reversal of a directive by President Uhuru Kenyatta to enroll the 10,000 recruits despite a court injunction.

President Kenyatta had ordered the 10,000 police recruits to report to Kiganjo Police Training College on Sunday April 12, 2015.

NPSC chairman Johnstone Kavuludi asked the 10,000 police recruits who had been instructed to report to Police Colleges for training not to do so.

Last year’s recruitment was challenged in court by the Independent Police Oversight Authority over claims of bribery during recruitment.

STALEMENT

Addressing the press, Mr Kavuludi said that the recruits should not report until the stalemate facing their selection is resolved.

Kavuludi said that consultations between stakeholders among them NPSC, the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) and the national government are ongoing on the way forward.

The selection process for the 10,000 recruits was halted by the High Court after claims of bribery and other irregularities emerged.

The High Court is set to rule on the matter later this month.

At the same time the ministry of devolution has advertised for the recruitment of National Youth Service personnel from the 24th of this month.
