Police arrest 114 aliens in Nairobi’s Ruaraka estate

Police in Nairobi’s Ruaraka area have arrested 114 illegal immigrants of Nigeria and Ethiopian origin.

The aliens were living in different apartments in Ruaraka and were arrested during a police operation that followed a tip-off from members of the public.

According to Starehe OCPD Alice Kimeli , police are verifying their aliens before arraigning them in court for being in the country illegally.

The police boss now says that operation against illegal immigrants will be conducted across the city and asked those in the country illegally to register with the relevant authorities.

This comes just a day after 23 Ethiopian nationals were arrested in a house in Kahawa West, Nairobi.

Police had to shoot in the air to save the illegal foreigners from being lynched by angry residents who accused one of them of killing a boda boda operator in the area.

The aliens are now in police custody and will be charged in court for being in the country illegally.

Early January, police in Embu arrested 27 aliens from Ethiopia who were being ferried in three private cars to Nairobi and later to South Africa.

According to Embu County Commander Karisa Roba, police were tipped off by members of the public about four suspicious Probox cars driving at high speeds along the Meru – Embu Highway.
