Police arrest escaped Lamu terror suspect

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinet has confirmed arrest of an injured terror suspect believed to have fled after the failed attack at a military camp in Lamu County.

More than 11 suspected Al-Shabbab terrorists were gunned down and several others escaped with injuries during the incident where police managed to confiscate a camera allegedly having photos of some of the attackers.

Boinet has revealed the Al Shabaab suspect was arrested in Voi town and is being interrogated by police over the raid.

Speaking at Port Reitz in Changamwe, the IG said the suspect had been shot on the leg, but he claimed to have sustained the injury in South Sudan when security officers interrogated him.

Boinet has further urged Kenyans, especially Muslims, to be vigilant during the holy month of Ramadhan and report any suspicious persons who pose a threat to security.
