Police arrest M-Pesa agent suspected of colluding with cons in Nakuru

Police in Nakuru County have arrested an M-Pesa agent suspected of colluding with an illegal group that has been conning local residents through mobile money services.

Lucy Muthoni Wanjiku is accused of working with the illegal group dubbed ‘Confirmed’ that has been on the run after police launched investigations, following increased robbery cases in Bondeni Estate.

During the Thursday raid, police impounded more than Ksh.130,000, 40 identity cards, four mobile phones and books with details of different people.

Nakuru County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha confirmed the arrest saying Wanjiku will be arraigned on Friday.

On his part, Nakuru OCPD Samwel Obara said Wanjiku will aid the police in apprehending more culprits running illegal businesses.

The arrest comes a day after the county commissioner warned gangs operating in the area, adding that his officers will do everything possible to bring down the regrouping of GAZA and Confirmed criminal groups in Nakuru County.
