Police arrest wanted terror suspect in Kericho

Police in Kericho are holding a terror suspect wanted in Kwale County over terror-related activities.

28-year-old Kennedy Siror was arrested by CID detectives at his hideout in Kibugat Village in Bureti Sub-County.

Kericho County CID boss Danson Diru confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect had been on the run for the last two weeks, after one of his alleged accomplices, Omar Hesbon, was gunned down by police in Kwale early June.

The Kericho County CID Boss said based on the intelligence supplied by their Kwale counterparts, they had been on the lookout for the suspect and had also passed the information to the members of the local provincial administration.
Diru said the man was not armed by the time of his arrest but had a copy of the newspaper cutting bearing his details with him.
According to Diru, the man will be transferred to Kwale for further investigations and to answer to charges preferred against him.
Diru, at the same time, called on the county residents to be on high alert as more youth from the county may have been recruited and radicalized by the Al Shabaab terror group.
