Police gun down 3 suspected thugs

Three suspected gangsters were gunned down in Nairobi’s Kayole area, following a fierce gun battle with police officers on Sunday.

Confirming the incident, Kayole OCPD Ali Nuno said officers engaged gunmen at Mowlem area along Kangundo Road, but they managed to gun them down in Obama estate.

Nuno said that the Inspector General of police, who was leading the operation, was shot and injured by the gunmen.

The OCPD says police managed to recover three guns, including a Ceska pistol, which had been stolen from an officer in Huruma last month.

At least 12 suspects have been shot dead in the last four days in the city, and seven firearms recovered in separate incidents.
