Police gun down most wanted terror suspect in Mombasa

The Anti-Terror police on Tuesday, September 27 gunned down one of the most dangerous and wanted terror suspects at Mwandoni area, just few meters from Kishada grounds in Kisauni, Mombasa county.
Security agencies claim that the suspect is the mastermind of a series of terror attacks and recruitment of youths to join illegal terror groups in Somalia.
Ismail Shosi was gunned down at around 11.30 am in a house police say he just moved in two months ago.
According to Coast Regional Coordinator, Nelson Marwa, the suspect is behind terror activities and radicalization of youths in various parts of the Coast, and his killing is a break through to security apparatus in the country.
Police claims that Shosi has escaped police dragnet several occasion by disguising as boda boda operator and also covering his face by wearing bui bui.
During the operation at his one bedroom house police allegedly recovered one G3 rifle, 188 rounds of ammunition, seven ID cards and terrorist training manual.
The state has placed a Ksh 2 million bounty on his head over alleged links to terrorism activities in the Coastal that has undermined peace few months ago in the coastal city of Mombasa.
Security agencies also claimed that the deceased was involved in various attacks against police officers in the coast region and killings of tourists in Old town in Mombasa island.
According to Marwa, Ismael Shosi inherited the wife of slain terror suspect, Kassim Omollo, who was gunned down in 2012 at Magodoroni area, Kisauni.
Kisauni OCPD, Richard Ngatia, claimed that Shosi was gunned down after he resisted arrest and tried to fire his officers. One of the neighbors, Fatmah Mgume, said Shosi lived a secret life and no one knew his source of income.
