Police gun down three suspected gangsters in Nairobis Umoja Estate

Police in Umoja Estate, Nairobi, shot dead three suspected gangsters on Friday, February 24 in dawn gun confrontation.

The police spotted a suspiciously driven motor vehicle, model Toyota Axio, at around 3: 00 am and challenged it to stop only for the occupants to open fire.

A fierce gunfire exchange ensued that resulted in the three fatally wounded and a fourth suspect wielding an AK47 rifle managed to escape.

Police recovered a loaded AK47 rifle, a pipe wrench spanner, vehicle registration plates, a bunch of car ignition keys, seven motor vehicle ignition switches and four mobile phones.

The scene has been processed and bodies removed to City Mortuary for identification and postmortem.
