Police holding suspected gangster in Rarieda

Police in Rarieda, Migori County are holding a 42-year-old suspected gangster who was arrested in possession of a pistol at Ndori market Monday morning.

David Ouma Mumbo, who is being held at Akala Police Station, was arrested in his residential house at Ndori Trading Centre after his wife informed the police that he allegedly threatened to shoot her.

According to the Chief of Central Asembo location, Alphonce Omolo Ayoma, the man threatened to shoot the wife after she allegedly refused to clean bloody clothes that he (suspect) had come with at midnight.

This reportedly prompted a scuffle in the house before the wife escaped into the night and later reported the matter to the chief who arrested him, with the assistance of the police from Akala Police Station.

Police are said to have found suitcases full of clothes, TV sets and assorted household items which are suspected to have been stolen.

The administrator told Radio Ramogi that the suspect who hails from Pap-Nyadiel village in the neighboring sub-county of Alego/Usonga, is a serial gangster who has been terrorising and robbing people at gunpoint along the busy Bondo-Kisumu highway.

He stated that the suspect will be arraigned in court to be charged with robbery with violence and being in possession of an illegal firearm as soon as police complete investigations.
