Detectives launched a manhunt for Sololo Ward MCA Halkano Konso over links to a racket behind the supply of arms in the war torn Turbi-Sololo border.

Four of his alleged accomplices, among them two Marsabit County government employees, are in police custody following their arrest by officers from the Border Patrol Unit.

The vehicle is said to have been under the control of the MCA who, upon its seizing, went into hiding prompting a manhunt.

Detectives intercepted their vehicle bearing Marsabit County government registration number 10CG016A following a tip-off from members of the public.

It is believed that those arrested have been distributing supplies to bandits in Funa Qumbi as one of them was found in possession of an AK-47 assault rifle with 10 rounds of ammunition.

The suspects will be presented before court on Monday while the rifle is set to be subjected to ballistic examination,
