Police in search of woman who set husband on fire

Police in Igembe Central, Meru County are hunting for a middle-aged woman who took off Tuesday morning after allegedly setting a house on fire, killing her husband who was burnt beyond recognition.

Area Chief for Athiru Rujine, Joshua Mungathia, said the deceased, Christopher Kimani, had married his third wife, Helen Kawira, who killed him and disappeared after they disagreed over domestic issues.

Residents have condemned the incident  and discouraged polygamous marriages saying they always end negatively.
“People should cease marrying many wives, and especially people from clubs and restaurants without taking time to know them. You never know someone’s agenda,” a resident  who did not reveal his name advised.
Mungathia confirmed that the matter has been reported to police and they are looking for the lady to arrest her.
The deceased’s body was removed to Meru Level Five Hospital mortuary.
The incident comes barely two weeks after a middle-aged man in Igembe North strangled his wife to death following a domestic disagreement.
