Police nab woman transporting Ksh10M of heroin

A 37-year-old woman was on Friday afternoon arrested along the Nairobi –Nakuru highway for allegedly trafficking heroin worth Ksh10 million.

The suspect was reportedly ferrying the drugs to Nairobi in a bus owned by Modern Coast Limited when the police nabbed her.

According to Naivasha District Commissioner, the woman managed to sneak the drugs through the Busia border.

Officers were, however, tipped off about the contraband.

“We got information that a 54-seater bus travelling from Kampala passing through Busia had a passenger suspected to be carrying drugs stashed in brooms. We acted immediately, nabbing the woman at Muthuri area,” said Mr Mbaya.

Speaking in his office, Mr Mbaya said that the contraband, which was confirmed to be heroin upon arrival in Nairobi, has a street value of Ksh10 million.

The Antinarcotics police recovered the drugs.

The woman was arrested and will be arraigned in court as soon once investigations are completed.
