Police launch manhunt for man suspected of murdering daughter
Police in Migori have launched a manhunt for a man suspected to have killed and dumped the body of his 1-year-old child in River Ongoche in Piny Oyie village of Suna West sub-county, Migori County.
The suspect identified as Samson Odhiambo, who is currently at large, was living with his 1-year-old daughter after his wife deserted him over domestic issues when the family realised that the child went missing six days ago.
Her body was found in the river by one of the locals who had gone to bathe in the river.
Confirming the incident, Nyamaraga sub location assistant chief, Mr Silvanus Nyarube, said the suspect who was not able to explain to the family where the daughter was disappeared after the matter was reported to authorities.
Mr Nyarube said they suspect that the father killed his daughter six days ago and dumped her body in the river, adding that investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, an investigation into the death of a doctor who was lynched by a mob in Migori Town last night has been launched.
Migori OCPD Gladys Rutere said they are yet to establish what transpired before his death, however, sources claim that he was found knocking on someone’s door with an unknown motive the when the mob descended on him with crude weapons.
The OCPD said the doctor was rushed to hospital but unfortunately succumbed on arrival.
She said investigations into the matter are underway.
