Police nab three burglars in Nairobi

Detectives at Kilimani Police Station have busted a criminal gang that has been terrorizing residents within Kilimani and Kileleshwa areas.

The ring was busted after a victim reported at the Kilimani Police Station prompting the police to swing into action.

One of the suspects has been on the police most wanted list after she jumped bail thrice, having been arrested and arraigned in court for the same crime committed within Kilimani.

Police pounced on the three suspects near Nakumatt Mega as they were shopping after trailing them for two days.

The three, Emmah Wambui Wanjiru, Elizabeth Akinyi Abuto and Wilson Marwa Giyabe.

Preliminary investigations show that Wilson Marwa Giyabe has been helping the cartel to find market of the stolen goods across the border in Tanzania.

Among the things confiscated by the police were master keys and other crude weapons believed to be used by the suspects to break into houses.

Since Friday the gang has broken into about 20 homes within Kilimani and Kileleshwa area.

In one of the flats, the gang masqueraded as visitors, conning their way in.

Some of the victims narrated to Citizen Digital their horror when they got home and found out they had been vandalised

“They had a master key and they opened the door, they took laptops tabs, jewellery and phones,: said one tenant.

According to the victims, the criminals know their targets. In one of the houses, the victims lost jewelry worth Sh2 million and cash in foreign currency worth Sh3 million.

Those in the car hire business have also been advised to vet their clients thoroughly as it emerged that the cartel has been committing the crimes with hired vehicles.

According to the police, the criminal gang was targeting residents who were out of town for the Easter holiday.

Those whose houses have been broken into were urged to go to Kilimani Police Station to identify their valuables.

The three will be arraigned in at the Kibera Law Court on Tuesday.
