Police in Narok probe killing of AP in Sabutiek village

Police in Narok County have launched investigations into circumstances leading to death of a police constable.

The Administration Police officer whose name has been withheld was attached to Sabutiek Administration Police post in Narok North.

It is alleged that an angry mob attacked him while on duty as he went to make lawful arrest in the company of a complainant.

Confirming the incident, County Police Commander Adan Yunis said the officers firearm is in safe custody with all rounds of ammunition from the scene retrieved.

“They were lucky that the deceased did not fire back in self-defence (as required)… it could have turned catastrophic,” he said.

The police boss sent a stern warning to the public and assured that those involved in the killing would face the law.

He revealed that one person is in custody in connection with the killing.

Members of the public have been urged to desist from attacking officers but instead follow the due process by reporting any matter to police stations.

The body of the late officer was taken to the morgue at the Narok County Referral Hospital awaiting a postmortem.
