Police Net Bhang Worth 1Million In Naivasha

The cannabis was being ferried by a personal car to Mombasa from Migori.

Police intercepted the vehicle at a road block along the Narok-Mai Mahiu road.

The suspects tried to flee but were stopped by police officers a few meters from the road block.

According to an eye witness the car was “driving fast and overtaking dangerously” along the busy road before it was stopped.

Upon searching the darkly tinted car, marijuana was found stashed in black polythene bags.

Mai Mahiu OCS Festus Kisinga confirmed the incident saying that the unprocessed bhang was packed in 41 polythene bags.

Kisinga said that the two suspects arrested are going to be arraigned in a Naivasha court and will face several charges.

“Each of the bags weighed around 3kgs and the suspects plus the car ferrying the bhang were towed to the police station,” he said.

The police boss added that they had intensified their patrols and roadblocks along major roads in the area.

“This is the first incident to have occurred in this area but we have intensified our patrols on all roads, in the town and its suburbs,” he said.
