Police net bhang worth Ksh 1 million

Police in Kirinyaga County have nabbed bhang worth over one million shillings at Gatuto, in Kirinyaga Central.

According to Kirinyaga Administration Police Commander Zachayo Mbugua, the police arrested the suspect identified as David Mutugi, who was in possession of the 1,200 rolls of bhang.

According to Mbugua, police officers raided the home of Mutugi  at around 1AM, following a tip-off from members of the public.

The suspect is currently being held at Kerugoya police station and will be arraigned in court Wednesday.

This is not the first time police have netted the illegal product after a tip-off by members of the public.

In February 2016, police  arrested two people found in possession of drugs estimated to be worth Ksh 3 million at Old Stadium Village in Embu Town.

Embu County Police Commander Karisa Robathe said that the two suspects were nabbed  following a tip-off from members of the public.

The police boss said that they also recovered 30 litres of ethanol during the raid.
