Police net bhang worth Sh1.6 million in Mombasa

Police in Mombasa County have confiscated bhang worth Sh1.6 million at Changamwe area.

Confirming the incident, Changamwe Chief Investigative Officer, Francis Wanjau revealed that police have impounded 79,000 rolls of bhang that was on transit to Mombasa Island, adding that the driver of the vehicle escaped from the scene before police could arrest him.

“Police stopped the vehicle that was ferrying the bhang after noticing that it was being driven recklessly, unfortunately, the driver escaped,” noted Wanjau.

Wanjau also condemned the act saying that cases of drug abuse, especially bhang, have drastically increased in the area, with women being the key actors in the peddling illegal drugs.

The officer urged Changamwe residents to support the police in the fight against drugs that have affected most youths in the region.

Police have launched a manhunt for the driver.
