One police officer and three civilians were charged with the attempted abduction of Sawagongo High School principal, Samuel Kaunda, at Siaya Law Courts on Monday.

Brian Nyikuli, Samwel Okoth and Janet Adhiambo, who appeared before Siaya Resident Magistrate Celesa Okore, were charged with four counts including: impersonation, attempted abduction and being in possession of forged currency.

The court was told that on 23rd January 2016 at Sawagongo High school in Gem, the trio impersonated officers from the Ethics an Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

While pretending to be anti-graft officers, the three accused the high school principal soliciting money from one of them-Janet Adhiambo. The three then proceeded to arrest Sawagongo for the dubious offence.

The trio was also charged for being in possession of forged currency worth of over Ksh22, 000.

Nyikuli, Okoth and Adhiambo denied all charges and they were released on a bond of Ksh500, 000 and a cash bail of Ksh200,000 each.

The case has been slated for mentioning on 8 February 2016, pending hearing on February 4.
