Police officer charged with robbery with violence in Homa Bay

A police officer was on Tuesday arraigned in a Homa Bay court and charged with robbery with violence.

Vincent Ochieng was charged that on April 24, 2018 together with others not before the court they robbed businessman Chrispine Ochieng’ items worth Ksh.110,000 at Adiedo Trading center in Rachuonyo North, Homa Bay County.

Appearing before Homa Bay Senior Principal Magistrate Thomas Obutu the police officer pleaded not guilty and was released on a bond of Ksh.200,000 with a surety of the same amount.

 

Prosecutor Hellen Githaiga told the court that Ochieng robbed the businessman of Ksh.84,000 and a mobile phone worth Ksh.7,000.

The police officer who is a resident of Kanyaluo,R achuonyo North Sub-County allegedly committed the offence while he was off duty.

The case will be mentioned on October 22 ahead of the hearing slated for October 29, 2018.
