Police officer found dead at his Kisii home

A police officer attached to Ogembo police station was on Tuesday morning found dead in his rented house within Ogembo town, Kisii County.

While confirming the incident, Kisii County Police Commander Martin Kibet said the officer who was on duty on Monday till 3pm, had been complaining of chest pains before going home.

According to Kibet, the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Ogembo police station became suspicious when the deceased failed to report to work on Tuesday morning.

His colleagues also tried to reach him on phone but when they couldn’t, an officer was sent to his residence.

It was then that the officer, whose door had been locked from the inside, was found dead on his bed.

Officers at the scene also found some painkillers, an indication that the deceased may have purchased them from a pharmacy to ease the chest pains.

The body has since been moved to the morgue pending an autopsy.
