Police officer hacked to death in Migori
A police officer was hacked to death in Suna East, Migori County, as he attempted to resolve a family dispute.
Confirming the incident, Migori County police boss Joseph Nthenge said investigations were still ongoing to establish exactly what transpired leading to the officer’s murder.
Speaking to Radio Ramogi, area chief Philip Kisiagro said the officer, attached to Thidhna police post, lived in a rental house adjacent to the suspect who happened to be assaulting his wife when he decided to intervene.
The wife of the suspect, identified as Lucas Adongo sustained injuries during the incident and was rushed to Migori Level Four Hospital for treatment.
“The suspect was beating the wife when the officer came to her rescue. The wife is currently in hospital nursing serious injuries after being cut severally by the husband, a police officer died for nothing,” said Kisiagro.
He further added that the suspect turned on the police officer, hacking him to death before taking his firearm and shooting severally in the air as he fled to the nearby Trans Mara, Narok County.
