Police officer killed, two injured in Mararani IED attack
One police officer has been killed, two injured and three others missing after an official vehicle they were travelling in ran over an Improvised explosive device at Mararani in Lamu County.
Th Border Patrol Unit officers were on the Sankuri-Mararani road, an area bordering Boni Forest from where suspected Al-Shabaab militants stage attacks from.
A rescue operation has been launched to find the missing officers.
The latest incident brings the number of BPU officers who have lost their lives in the area as a result of IED attacks to 24 in a period of less than four months.
