Police officer kills self in Umoja
- Confirming the incident, the Kamukunji Police Commander Adamson Bungei said the officer shot himself inside his house in Umoja 2 area at around 7am.
- This comes a day after another police officer who is attached to parliament was found murdered in the same building.
A police officer committed suicide on Sunday morning in Umoja estate, Nairobi under unclear circumstances.
Confirming the incident, the Kamukunji Police Commander Adamson Bungei said the Administration Police (AP) officer shot himself inside his house in Umoja 2 area at around 7am.
The officer was found dead in his house after he failed to show up at work.
The deceased is reported to have been undergoing marital issue which are suspected to have led him to taking his own life.
However, according to the police commander the motive behind the incident could not be immediately established.
This came just a day after another police officer who was attached to Parliament Police Station was found murdered in the same area.
The police officer identified as Hellen Kwamboka was found on her bed, with deep cuts on her forehead. She is suspected to have been killed by her boyfriend who went missing after the incident.
Mr. Bungei, however, confirmed the two incidents are not linked.
The bodies of the two officers were taken to Chiromo Mortuary.
