Police officers arrested after beating, locking up ex-MP Jakoyo Midiwo
Police in Kisumu are holding four police officers who were involved in a nasty confrontation inside the residence of former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo.
The County police Boss Ranson Lolmodoni said the officers based in Kondele, Railways and central police station would be interrogated on the matter and punished if found culpable.
The four officers; three male and one female had engaged Midiwo’s driver in a chase after he allegedly committed a traffic offence.
In the Monday evening drama, officers who were hot on the drivers wake are said to have gained entry into the compound of the former legislator.
A confrontation then ensued after Midiwo who was home at the time demanded to know why the officers were in his home while the offence in question had been committed elsewhere.
When the stand-off ended and the officers returned to the station, Midiwo reportedly followed them protesting their entry into his Milimani Estate home.
It is during the second round of confrontation that Midiwo was reportedly roughed up and locked up by the officers.
Midiwo who was later released has since recorded statement with the police over the same pending a conclusion of the probe.
