Police officers finally get a pay rise

Police officers finally get a pay rise

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) in liaison with Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has announced a 6% and 19% salary increment for all higher and lower cadre police officers respectively effective end of July 2017.

Senior police who are highest ranked officers at PG12 are timely beneficiaries of a 6% increment.

Senior Assistant Inspector Generals will get to  pocket a scrimp of  Ksh 6,000 more translating to a monthly remuneration of Ksh 106,000.

Constables who are the lowest-ranked officers on scale PG1 and the majority in the force  got a 19% increment of Ksh 3,610 meaning an entry level officer, raw from  police training will earn a minimum salary of Ksh 22,610.

NPSC chairman, Johnson Kavulundi, said the commission in consultation with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) and Inspector General, National Police Service had agreed on the increment.

The salary increment will hopefully boost the morale of national police officers ahead of the August 8 General Election.
