Police officers injured during crackdown on gambling machines

Two Administration Police officers are fighting for their lives at the Maua Methodist hospital, following an attack in Igembe South, Meru County.

The two were attacked while carrying out patrols, even as the crackdown on gambling and use of slot game machines continues.

Area police boss Jane Nyakeruma says, the bar owner, identified as Jacob Ratanya, hired youth to attacked the officers.

The charged youth, armed with machetes, attacked the two, forcing them to retaliate, an incident that left the bar owner dead.

The body of the deceased was moved to Nyambene sub county hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem as the two officers were admitted at Maua Methodist hospital in serious condition.
