Police probe after woman, 8-year-old son, male adult found dead at govt quarters

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are probing the deaths of a middle-aged woman, her 8-year-old son and a 35-year-old male adult at a house located in the government quarters on Jogoo Road.

The body of Charity Kemboi, an officer at the Registrar of Persons Office in Mathare, was found on the floor of her bedroom with that of her son lying close by. According to the DCI, the two were holding onto their rosaries.

The body of the male adult, who has since been identified only as Kevin, was found in the toilet with his hands and legs tied together using electric cables.

The house was in a mess with clothes, shoes and bedding strewn all over the floor, indicating that a struggle must have ensued before the victims met their painful deaths.

Neighbours told investigators that they last saw the victims enter the house on Sunday after attending a church service.

“Whilst we are yet to make arrests or establish the motive of the killings, Scenes of Crime Investigators processed the scene & preserved it for further analysis by Homicide experts, who will undoubtedly resolve the murder & arrest the killers,” said the DCI in a statement.

Bodies of the victims have since been moved to the Chiromo Funeral Home awaiting autopsy.
