Police recover all the guns stolen from Booker Police Station

Police have recovered all seven guns stolen from Booker Police Post in Mumias, Kakamega County after the recovery of six firearms last night in Mayoni area near Mumias.

Western region police chief, Moses Ombati, says the recovery was made after an extensive security operation that has also led to the arrest of one suspect.

The first firearm loaded with 20 rounds of ammunition was recovered at the weekend near a sugarcane farm in Mayoni Market and two suspects who are brothers were arrested.

The guns were stolen when thugs stormed the police post and made away with rifles and nine magazines loaded with 184 rounds of ammunition.

One police officer was wounded during the attack that led to a security operation that was heavily criticized by human rights organisations due police brutality witnessed during the operation.
