Police refute claims Wetangula’s bodyguard sacked

Police have refuted claims that Bungoma Senator-elect Moses Wetangula’s bodyguard has been dismissed just a day after a scuffle with his superiors at the Supreme Court building.

Senator Wetang’ula on Tuesday demanding reinstatement of his bodyguard, constable Simon Lonyang, saying due process must be followed.

On Monday, the bodyguard was barred from entering the Supreme Court building and disarmed, an action that infuriated NASA leaders Raila Odinga and Moses Wetangula who demanded that the officer be allowed in the building since he was in the senator’s security detail.

The officer had allegedly been dismissed for allegedly disobeying lawful orders from Central Police Station OCPD Robinson Thuku.

After he was disarmed, constable Lonyang was driven to the Central Police Station.

He is expected to be arraigned in court on Wednesday, August 30.
