Police rescue suspected thief from mob justice

A suspected thief escaped mob justice narrowly Thursday afternoon at Okenge Trading Center in Nyatike after police arrived in time to save him from an irate mob.

The suspect, Yusuf Kamanda, a Tanzanian national,  allegedly stole Ksh 22,600 from a Evelyn Achieng.

NyatikePolice boss, DishonChebaka, said that the suspect was escaping when the complainant, Evelyn Achieng,  alerted the mob.

Police arrived at the scene when the mob was at the verge of setting the suspect ablaze. He, however, sustained serious head injuries.

They also managed to recover the Ksh 22, 600 from the suspect.
