Police seize 5,000 liters of illicit brew in Nakuru

More than 5,000 liters of illicit brew were on Wednesday morning seized at the expansive London estate in Nakuru Town after the new Sub-County Deputy Commissioner, Elmi Shaffi, led an operation to crackdown on illicit brew dealers.

More than five drums of local brews by the name kangara and busaa were found buried in the ground. Brewers in the area have taken advantage of Gioto damp site to hide from the police and the chiefs and continue producing the illegal brews.

The operation comes barely a week after another illicit brew den was raided by police at Mwariki Estate, Nakuru and hundreds of litres of illicit brew found in underground tunnels.
