Police summon Thika leaders over Sunday chaos

Security officials in Thika, Kiambu County, led by the Deputy County Commissioner, Tom Anjere, have summoned all elected and aspiring leaders to a meeting following chaos that erupted at the Thika Stadium on Sunday, November 6 leading to the death of one person.

Anjere said the meeting was to deliberate on how best the leaders would campaign during these tumultuous times.

He further added that police are investigating the death of a teacher who was caught by a stray bullet during the Sunday chaos.

John Njuguna Mwangi, a primary school teacher at Thika Barracks, was shot as he walked home from a religious crusade.

Its alleged that Njuguna was among the two people caught by stray bullets as police were dealing with goons who were mugging residents leaving Thika Stadium after a live concert attended by Kiambu Governor, William Kabogo.

Thika OCPD, Erastus Muthamia, said one person had been taken to hospital but died while undergoing treatment. He, however, assured the residents that there was enough security to cover all the meetings convened in the area.
