Police Vetting Resumes On Wednesday

Traffic Commandant Samuel Kimaru is among the senior officers who underwent scrutiny on Monday.

Kimaru while being interviewed said he had helped to reduce road carnage since taking over as Traffic Police boss

He said the number of accidents had reduced by about 40%

Kimaru added that graft in the traffic department had also significantly reduced since taking office.

“I have sacked 7 officers and demoted 8 others over graft already,” Kimaru said.

On traffic congestion, Kimaru said that he was asked to remove his officers from the roundabouts which he readily complied with.

“After vacation by police at roundabouts, it did not take long before people were calling for assistance due to congestion,” he said.

Other senior officers who were interviewed include Patrick Muhuni, a senior assistant commissioner of police in the directorate of criminal investigations.

A total of 32 officers underwent vetting on Monday.
