Police will not be deployed to schools – IG Boinett

The Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett now says that the government cannot offer police as security personnel to all schools in the country.

Speaking to head teachers at the 40th annual Kenya Secondary School Heads Association conference in Mombasa, Boinet termed it as unrealistic adding that it was impossible to offer a policeman for every school.

The IG, however, urged the head teachers to work with their communities and the government to ensure safe neighborhoods that will eventually address the security question.

Boinett further distanced himself from the tussle pitting North Eastern region teachers with their employer the Teacher Service Commission saying that their refusal to report back was between them and their employer as the security forces had done their job of ensuring the region is secure for all.

The IG also expressed gratitude to the British government for lifting the travel ban against its citizens travelling to the coast region.

Boinett attributed the action on the improved security measures taken by the security agents around the country which he says finally created their confidence.
