Policeman arraigned for celebrating Kapenguria terror attack

A police officer from Kapenguria Police Post has been charged with supporting terrorism activities after he posted a message on Facebook congratulating the gunman who attacked his post.

Abdi Jelle, who was a serving police officer at the time of the attack, is said to have taken to his Facebook page to congratulate the officer who was involved in the shooting of his colleagues at the Kapenguria Police Post in an incident that left seven officers dead.

Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku, Jelle denied the charges, which also linked him to ridiculing the country’s security.

The prosecution however objected to his release on bail or bond terms on the basis that since he stands a chance to interfere with witnesses and the ongoing investigation.

The court is yet to make a ruling on the matter.
