Policeman tries to kill himself

A police officer at Dukana police station in North Horr, Marsabit County, is nursing serious injuries after he attempted to kill himself using a gun.

The police constable James Thuna Njehu aged 49, escaped death by a whisker after shooting himself in the head.

According to the county commander Bernerd Kogo, his colleagues found him in a pool of blood and rushed him to hospital.

The cause of the attempted suicide has not yet been established.
