Policewoman who shot husband over Ksh.50 charged with attempted murder

A female police officer was on Tuesday charged with attempted murder after she shot her husband twice in their house in Dago area of Nyalenda in Kisumu East Sub-county.

Constable Maureen Awuor appeared before Winam Law Courts Senior Resident Magistrate Fatuma Rashid where she denied the charge.

The court heard that Awuor aged 35 on the 5th day of July, 2020 at Dago area within Kisumu unlawfully attempted to cause the death of his 28-year-old husband Victor Odhiambo.

It is reported that the couple, who have been together for three (3) years got into a disagreement after the husband gave the househelp Ksh.50 for lunch without consulting her.

Kisumu East sub-county Police Commander Mwenda Musyimi said Constable Awuor, who is stationed at Kasagam Police Station, came home with an Ak47 rifle and shot the man twice; on the right side of the head and ear.

The officer was released on a Ksh.500,000 cash bail or an alternative of Ksh.2 Million bond.

The matter will come up for mentioning on August 21,2020 and heard on September 30.
