Political wars will cost me Odinga to Nyanza leaders

The opposition Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader, Raila Odinga, has warned politicians from the Luo Nyanza region from engaging in unnecessary political wars that might ruin his presidential ambition.

Odinga warned against divisive politics, stating that political leaders from his home turf cannot divide people along clan affiliations and expect him to get support from other parts of the country.

He said that he has struggled to get backing from other parts of the country but supremacy battles in his backyard will cost him.

The former Prime Minister, who spoke during a church service in Bondo Constituency, warned that unnecessary political quarrels should not be tolerated as they will interfere with the support that he has already received from across the country.

Odinga urged the leaders from Nyanza to promote peace and unity, exuding confidence that he will beat President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party in the next elections since he enjoys support from the people of Coast, Eastern, North Eastern, Western, Nyanza and parts of Rift Valley.

The opposition leader, who was flanked by his wife, Ida Odinga, asked his supporters to allay doubts on his impending victory and prepare effectively by acquiring ID and voters’ cards in readiness for the 2017 elections.

He pleaded with them to ensure they all come out to vote this time round, stating that other communities who support his presidential bid will only come out to vote if the Nyanza people demonstrate the same by example.
