Politicians urged to preach peace during campaigns

Anglican Diocese of Embu Bishop, David Murithi, has urged politicians to practice peaceful politics even when soliciting for votes.

Bishop Murithi asked politicians to exercise their leadership roles with decorum and help improve the lives of electorates instead of dividing them for their personal gains.

“It is true, according to the word, to say that all of us have a calling and being a politician is also a calling because that is leadership and leadership is God given. Therefore, politicians are obliged to practice peaceful politics even when asking for votes,” the Bishop told the leaders.

This even as former Permanent Secretary for Transport, Dr Cyrus Njiru, officially announced that he would be vying for the Embu Governor’s seat saying that he intends to use his skills in management to help develop Embu County.

“Everyone possesses different skills and I intend to use mine to help bring development to Embu County,” he said.

The two were speaking at St Stephen ACK Kangaru Church during the celebration of the ACK Theological Education by Extension (TEE) for its members.
