Politicians urged to shun divisive politics

Politicians in Bondo Constituency have been urged to shun divisive politics that could polarize the region ahead of the 2017 General Election.

Former chairman of the defunct Bondo Town Council, Mr Henry Ondeje, said that a move by a section of the political leaders to start dividing the electorate along clan lines is not healthy for the politics of the region.

He argued that some of the politicians have started forming groupings between clans to rival other clans; a move he says should not be tolerated.

Mr Ondeje, who was speaking in Bondo Town, regretted that some people have begun to divide the region that has taken its leaders a long time to unite.

The former chairman has therefore urged the political leaders to unite people and conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of next year’s General Election.

Mr Ondeje at the same time advised the electorate to reject any political leaders who would want to divide them along their clan affiliations, noting that Bondo constituency is cosmopolitan and anybody can be elected to lead as long as he or she has the required leadership qualities.
