Politicians warned against importing voters

Political aspirants in Kisumu County have been warned against transferring voters from one location to another during the ongoing second and last phase of massive voter registration.

Speaking after addressing several aspirants in Kisumu, former Muhoroni legislator, Ayiecho Olweny, said the move will affect the voter turnout during the August 8 polls.

Mr Olweny noted that most aspirants are conspiring with potential voters from other areas and are importing them so as to register in places they will contest.

The former Member of Parliament, who is also the outgoing Kisumu County Orange Democratic Party (ODM) chairman, noted that in an event an aspirant looses during party primaries, they should consider carrying the voters again to come cast their votes in the place they were registered failure to which they will not have an opportunity to vote.

He urged all leaders and aspirants to continue mobilizing voters to register in large numbers to hit the targeted number.
