Polling centers with lost hours compensated

The Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Wafula Chebukati, has said that the four polling centers that experienced downtime due to bad weather conditions and the three polling centers in Laikipia County that were affected by insecurities will be given more time to conduct the elections.

Speaking at the National Tallying Centre at the Bomas of Kenya, Chebukati dismissed allegations that some polling stations have multiple ballot papers and asserted that officers fired over malpractices at polling stations will face prosecution.

Further, he acknowledged that prisoners, who are only voting for a presidential candidate, are undertaking the process smoothly.

IEBC Commissioner, Dr. Roselyn Akombe, added that areas that faced difficulties will  be allowed to vote past 5 pm.
