Pomp and color as Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika weds Sam Mburu

It was a glitz and glam affair as Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika wedded her longtime boyfriend Sam Mburu in a traditional ceremony.

The bride who was dressed in a gold embroidered gown and the groom in an African-themed white ensemble hosted guests in Nyahururu, Laikipia County on Saturday.

Among those who attended the ceremony include Deputy President William Ruto, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and Nyeri Woman Rep Rahab Mukami.

Susan is the daughter of the late veteran politician Dickson Kihika Kimani.

Nicknamed the Iron Lady of Nakuru politics, she remains a harsh critic of Governor Lee Kinyanjui’s leadership, the Daily Nation reports.

She was the Senate Majority Whip but was kicked out following Jubilee Party wrangles between the Tangatanga and Kieleweke factions.

She rose from a county assembly speaker to Senator and has announced plans to run for the gubernatorial seat.

Born in 1974, Susan went to Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls’ High School in Nyeri before leaving for the US in 1993 to further her studies.

She holds a degree in Political Science and Government from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas as well as a jurist doctorate law degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
