Port workers down tools over NHIF rates

Workers at the port of Mombasa are on a go-slow to protest the new NHIF rates.

The over 6,000 workers are now reported to have blocked the entrance and exit from the port to ensure no trucks enter or leave the busy port.

The workers are now camping at the port headquarters demanding to be addressed by the management after paralyzing the operations.

The strike is said to have been mobilized by the dock workers union which had issued the notice last week terming the deductions illegal.
