Postmortem: Drunk cop shot man 7 seven times

A drunk police officer allegedly shot a 19-year-old man a staggering seven times in Mukarara village in Kangema.

A postmortem conducted by government pathologist Dr. Kamotho Watenga revealed that 19-year-old Harrison Irungu’s body bore over seven bullets wounds that had been sprayed on his body by a deputy OCPD.

“The deceased had multiple gunshot wounds on the chest, back, abdomen, buttocks and thighs. There was massive blood in the chest cavity, fracture of ribs, contusions bilateral lungs and bullet wounds on the heart and liver,” revealed the autopsy.

“Moderate bleeding in the abdominal cavity. Fracture of the right distal femur. Cause of death: Exsanguination (excessive bleeding) secondary to multiple Gunshot wounds.”

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) confirmed that they had sent its Rapid Response team to carry out investigations.

Peter Kimani Maina, father to the deceased narrated his shock and disbelief when he saw his son’s body after the ordeal.

“I was almost out of breath when I saw my son’s heart and liver badly raptured by bullets,” he recalled. “I don’t understand why a drunk police officer decided to spray so many bullets on my son.”

Mr. Kimani wants justice for his son whom he describes as a “straight forward man who never engaged in criminal activities.”

He wants the officer to be arrested and charged with murder.
