Pray for IEBC, DP Ruto tells supporters in final push for voter listing

In realization of the enormous task ahead of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Deputy President William Ruto has asked Kenyans to pray for the electoral body.

Speaking at Holy Ghost Cathedral in Mombasa where he attended the Sunday service, DP Ruto insisted on the need for the country to remain united in the run up and after the August polls.

“We should all of us realize that even after elections we will remain as brothers (and sisters) of one country, Kenya,” said Ruto.

The Deputy President noted that IEBC has a paramount role of actualizing citizens’ suffrage right, therefore appealed to Kenyans to support the institution.

“I’m honestly asking you as Christians to party for IEBC and other parties involved in running elections; commissioners, employees and its partners.”

After the Sunday service Ruto and his entourage, that included National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale, Nairobi Senator, Mike MbuviSonko, and a host of Jubilee leaning politicians from the Coast, headed for a series of voter registration mobilization campaign in Mombasa and its environs.

The Deputy President and his company spared no effort in attacking drug cartels in the coastal region saying ‘they must look for another country.’

Duale and Senator Sonko rubbished a report published on a local newspaper on Sunday, February 5, implicating President Uhuru Kenyatta’s allies to drug business in the country.

The leaders reiterated President Kenyatta’s and his deputy’s stance that the state will deal ruthlessly with drug barons in the country.

“We want all those named in the drug business to go to America. FBI will decide who is guilty and who is not,” said Sonko.

Garissa Township MP Duale challenged opposition leader Raila Odinga to talk about the drug business scam in the country.
